Play Crown

Sorry I haven't updated the blog. I have been really busy and my camera died on me yesterday. Anyways here is another project I have made in the last three months. My younger sisters did it with me.

First I made a paper template by measuring their head and putting a zig zag top on one side. I cut two pieces so it would be thicker to stand up straight. Then I sewed them together along the bottom and top. If you want you can put on a ribbon by sewing the center of the ribbon to the crown. Sew the two short sides together and your done. A really easy and quick way to make something that would amuse a child for hours.

Blue Baby Blanket

I crocheted this blanket a while ago for someone who just had a baby boy. I made up my own pattern and I think I can remember how I did it.

I used size 5.00 hook, With white/blue and dark blue/light blue cotton. First I made twenty granny squares out of the white/blue yarn, each had four rows. Then I went around the granny squares three times with the dark blue/light blue yarn. I then sewed the pieces together and went around the edges with shell stitch and i was done. It can go really quick if you work on it a lot, but thats not what I did and it took me a month.

Paper Snowflake

A while ago I made this 3D paper snowflake. I hung it above a back door and thought that no one would go through there, but they did. Now half of the snowflake is flattened. this is before I hung it up.

The instructions were so easy to follow from this website. I made this in around an hour.

crocheted snowflakes

That is the first one I made.

This is the second one I made.

When I found this I immediately wanted to put it on my blog. But it was a little to late to though. Anyways here is the blog.

I just got a subscription to crochet today and it is Awesome. Because it is December, instead of sending me the November/December issue they sent me January/February. I love all the heart stuff in it. I think I might make that heart hat for my younger sisters. Here is a picture of the January/February issue.

Fun Hairdos

This is a hairdo from a blog that I absolutely LOVE. Here is the link. I have two younger sisters so this blog is perfect for them so that I can do their hair in really cute hairstyles.
I tried this hairstyle on one of my sisters and worked out well but instead of having the messy buns I just left it in two pigtails.

There is also a website that has a bit easier styles that I always use. Click here for the link.
I also did this in both my sisters hair. It looked SO cute in their hair.

Heres another Blog that has hairstyles that are a bit complicated. Here it is.
This is a really cute hairstyle that worked extremely well on my sister. I did this on the other side of her head and pulled the twists back under the rest of the hair and held it there with a ponytail.

Easy Blanket and Pillow

I made this blanket and pillow for my younger sister in the spring out of a piece of flannel. I found this blanket on this website
First I took two pieces of flannel, you can use the same fabric for both sides or you can use different fabric. Then I made a cardboard template 2", 3". I put the two pieces of flannel on top of each other wrong sides together and cut around the template making fringe all around the blanket. then I took two pieces of fringe that were on top of each other and tied them right over left then left over right. I did that all around the edge and I was done. I made the knots too tight. I should have done it looser so that the edge lays flat. For the pillow I just changed the size of the fabric and stuffed it as I was tying the edges. I used different colors because I didn't have enough fabric from the blanket to make the pillow.
